The Morning Star Church was founded in 1950 at 427 N. Harrison Ave. Oxnard, CA, by Elder Gilbert Jackson and First Lady Missionary Fannie Jackson. We have been blessed to be at the same location for over 70 years.
Superintendent Jackson faithfully served as pastor for 44 years until his death in 1994. His Assistant Pastor, Elder Roosevelt Thompson then took over the reins along with his wife, Sister Vencie Thompson. Elder Thompson humbly served for the next 21 years until 2016.
Elder Odell and Mother Ruby Rimmer were appointed after the death of Elder Thompson and served the church until Elder Rimmer's death in 2020.
Elder Huelon Lyghts became Elder in Charge in 2019 and he and his wife First Lady Lynda Lyghts were officially installed on December 4, 2021.
History is still being made everyday. God is on the move as he continues to bless our Pastor Huelon and Lady Lynda Lyghts. In the new era for Morning Star Church.
We are most committed to the preaching of Jesus. We are Jesus people, not religious people. Methods will come and go, yet our message will remain the same.
All people are loved by Jesus. We make no apologies for being focused on reaching the lost. We desire to bring the broken home at all costs.
We’re going to always do the best with what we have. We’re on time, engaged and prepared. We don’t do things half way. If we’re going to do it, it’s to the best of our ability.
Generosity is about giving more than what is required. We see generosity as a privilege. We’re generous with our time, talents and treasure. We go first in our giving. God has given richly towards us, it’s our honor to give back to Him.
We submit to leadership and are thankful for spiritual authority. We choose joyfully to submit to those God has placed over us. We honor and care for those God has placed under us.
If you’re too big to serve then you are too small to lead. Every leader is a servant first. From the parking lot to the pulpit, everyone serves.
Everything we do, we do it with passion. From our worship to our service we do it with Holy Ghost energy. Passion drives us. Passion for Jesus. Passion for people. Passion for His church
